I have 4.5 years of experience as an in-home private caregiver and 8 years working as a certified Activity Director for seniors in local facilities. (They are the folks who plan activites, trips, and entertainment galore.) This experience, plus the fact that I'm a college grad lets me bring more to my job as a caregiver.

I'm experienced with alzheimers, dementia, diabetes, strokes, special diets, speech, hearing and sight loss, heart diseases, depression, etc. etc. I have excellent skills in cooking/baking, bathing/dressing assistance, personal care, giving medication, exercise programs, menu planning, shopping, housecleaning, laundry, errands, pet care, driving, and tailored recreational activities, if desired. (I specialize in a huge variety of arts/crafts.)I'm sorry but I don't do heavy lifting. I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs.

I enjoy taking excellent care of those I work for....bringing the unexpected bunch of flowers, tomatoes or grapes from the yard, a new cd or some food they might like. I get to know the person I'm caring for and the best way to relate to them. At my most recent job, the family credited me with bringing back a great deal of life, happiness and clarity to their 94-year-old mother. I'm available 24/7, including holidays. I'm used to living in 3-4 days, with another caregiver taking the rest of the week, but I am avaialbe houly as well and open to other options.
